These are the ONLY way I make my hard-boiled eggs. No more watching the pot of boiling eggs. No more trying out the many methods of trying to get them to peal easy (adding baking soda, vinegar, or any other way I found on the internet).
These 2 methods using my egg cooker (for 1-7 eggs) or using my Instant Pot (using 8-15) eggs are by far, the BEST way and my eggs ALWAYS peel very easily and come out PRETTY so that you can easily use these methods for deviled eggs and not feel ashamed of a messy egg white.
Egg Cooker
This appliance is awesome! It is small, easy to clean, and easy to store. An included measuring cup allows you to calibrate the water level to consistently prepare the eggs to your desired style; soft, medium or hard-boiled. In addition to steaming, this egg cooker allows you to gently poach two eggs with the included poaching tray. A convenient automatic shut-off indicator light lets the user know exactly when the cooking cycle is complete. The built-in timer adjusts automatically from soft to hard and cooks eggs exactly to your liking! Also included is a measuring cup with a built-in piercing pin to prevent cracked shells during cooking. It also allows you to pierce the eggs prior to cooking to release the sulfur within the egg. The result is consistently perfect golden yellow yolks and easy peeling.
Quick Video using the Egg Maker
- Using the piercing pin to gently poke a small hole in the bottom of each egg (if one cracks, you can throw it in your mini dash griddle and quickly cook an egg, or cook it in the microwave for a breakfast sandwich)
- Place eggs in the egg holder (i like to place them with hole on bottom)
- Fill measuring cup with water, to the type of egg you want or how many eggs you have. I have only used this for hard boiled eggs.
- Pour water in egg maker, place lid, and push button
- When light goes off, eggs are ready. – Because there isn’t a beep, there have been many times I forget about them, and they still turn out great, even without the ice bath
- You can put them in an ice bath for 5 minutes to stop the cooking process.
- Ready to store until ready to use.
I clean this the same way I clean my mini dashes.
5-5-5 – Instant Pot
This method is AWESOME! When you need to cook a large batch of eggs, this is the quickest and easiest way that I have found. You Leave your metal rack in your instant pot.
- Place your eggs on top of the metal rack.
- Add ½ cup water, put the lid on, make sure your release valve is on sealing.
- Turn on pressure cook for 5 min.
- After warming time and the 5 minutes of cooking, allow slowing release for 5 minutes.
- I like to place a dish towel on top of the release valve and turn it to release so steam goes into the towel for the final release before opening the lid.
- Using tongs, place eggs in an ice bath for 5 minutes.
- Now is the time you can place in a container and in the fridge to continue cooling until ready to use.
You can handwash this, or you can even wash the pot and lid in the dishwasher! So Easy!
